FEELING A LITTLE TENSE ...
Arrgghh. Author's Angst Sunday.
7k words into a story and I find myself balking every time I come to write my hero in 3rd person. I've just erased another example of "I said" with "he said", it just slipped into the text. His name sits awkwardly, too, every time I type it, which may be due to the wrong choice of name or another symptom of the wrong tense.
I admit I started the story as 1st person, which is often my preference for shorter stories. Then I thought it might feel too one-sided so I swapped to 3rd. But it seems the story itself is pushing me back! LOL
Can't fight nature, I suppose :). Maybe this is why it's been a plod-through rather than a flow this weekend. So now I'm going to skim through and convert it back and see if it reads better.
Hmmm...
Update: methinks this will need a beta read-through to catch any remaining misses, if anyone has time at the end of next week!
